UCI Road Trip

Mical and I are going east for a World Cup and then World Championships at Mt. Saint Anne so lucky for us we are catching the 11 o'clock to Toronto. Did I mention its the 11pm?? Ouch. This flight messes with my body and brain. The flight is leaving at 11 and its a 3,75hr flight and we arrive at 6:30.......oh man its going to be a long day! We land fine after trying to sleep in a cramped ass Jet, which I can never do anyway, then grab a quick hopper to Montreal to grab a rental and drive to New York. Mical had rented a Matrix as we have two bike boxes and two large bags so we needed the room. Apparently if you book a car they don't necessarily hold it. ( see link for the explanation of my frustration )

So after a some mild anger and frustration at the lack of common sense we got stuck with a Yaris sedan which if you've ever seen one you know it isn't holding a couple boxes! We get it all sorted out and repacked and shuffled and the garage attendant comes by and says : you guys really need a Matrix." hahah, oh well. We had the best border guard ever, laughing, joking around with us. He even rode bikes, but didn't classify himself a cyclist, too funny. He even let us keep our fruits and veggies. It renewed my faith in crossing the border. Its about four hours from the border and goes off without a hitch. The eyes are really heavy so Mical and I trade off a few times. She takes the last leg and we arrive at Mount Windham in the Catskills of New York State. She found this really cool little house right downtown. it has a wicked lil Italian deli around the corner, an old school diner across the street and a great coffee shop down the road. We need to sake the travel out so while Mikey gets some grub I build up the bikes. Man i miss the stand when I'm on the road. The bikes are all good, Mary sporting some new (not 2011 new) XTR cranks, so we ride out the legs and go check out the venue. Three different finish lines within 50ft of each other. Being my first ever World Cup it was cool to see the track live and it was really just like in the pics. I am stoked to try out the track in the morning and maybe race sunday. We shall see about that though.

It is now 930 and I am fried. The computer says 630 but i know itstlying. The Thurday Night gang is probably just reaching the bottom of Munns or some other sweet trail exit. SO goodnight from Windham. Stay tuned for more!
